2 When & how to use ICT

Objectives

  • Understand when ICT is an appropriate tool to use.
  • Consider the resources available in the school.
  • Develop a framework for making critical judgements about ICT learning resources.

Time

One 1.5 hour session

Preparation

Part 3 of this session requires trainees to make critical judgements about the effectiveness of an ICT resource. The tutor will need to have identified one or more learning resources about which the trainees can make critical judgements.

Tutors can use any resource which is available in school. However, due to the limitations of time, resources should be simple enough to be effectively demonstrated in no more than ten minutes.

If you do not have an appropriate resource in school, there are many examples of suitable exercises and resources available from the BBC Web site at www.bbc.co.uk/schools/teachers.
