Extended Schools

The Extended Schools initiative commits schools to providing a range of services to benefit children, their families and the wider community. These services may be delivered by school staff using school facilities or through a series of partners coordinated by the school. This document sets out the requirements that are being made of schools, and how they are expected to address these challenges.

The extension of services being offered by schools may, in many cases, provide opportunities for staff to extend or alter their roles. This may involve taking on greater responsibilities, or working outside of conventional school hours.
